Diaper Changing Tips & Tricks

It only seems right to share a few of our favorite products and hacks at the one place we spend most of our day changing diapers & cleaning up blow-outs–the changing table.

With this being our third baby, I truly have learned what necessities to have readily available. In this post, you’ll find our tried and true products that make chaining those diapers a breeze. As well as some diaper changing hacks!

Changing Table Products:

Balmex Diaper Cream– When it comes to choosing a diaper rash cream I started using Balmex when Emery was a baby so it was an item I made sure to purchase again with Briar. Thankfully he hasn’t had any extreme diaper rashes, but we will be started solids soon so I want to make sure I have a diaper cream on hand that will prevent them. Balmex protects your baby’s against the 3 leading causes of diaper rash: wetness, skin chafing and digestive enzymes found in dirty diapers. I’m all about the ingredients in products, especially ones that I put on my children’s skin. Balmex contains vitamin B5 and E to soothe irritated skin, zinc oxide that has been clinically proven to reduce the rash in just one change, and the natural ingredient, evening primrose, which inhibits enzymes in stool that are known to irritate the skin.

Pampers Diapers & Wipes – We are a Pampers family have been with all three babies. I love their new Pampers Pure line of Organic cotton diapers and wipes!

Moisturizer – Briar has had a little eczema and dry skin since he was born, so I like having this moisturizer in the drawer to put on any dry skin while I am changing his diaper.

Face Cleanser – I like to just clean his face and hands a little in the morning after I change his diaper and put his clothes on for the day. I love this no-rinse cleanser that I can just apply gently with a cotton ball.

Comb & Brush – He doesn’t have much hair, but I do comb it with this brush to help it not get too crazy.

Diaper Changing Hacks:

  1. I always keep a toy or teether at the table to keep him busy and occupied while I change his diaper. He is getting to the age where he is more busy and like to move around while I change his diaper. A toy keeps him distracted for a minute while I change him.
  2. I like to keep a small bin in his changing table with diapers, wipes, and diaper cream so that if we are hanging out in the living room or downstairs I can just grab the bin for easy changes.
  3. I keep an old hair dryer in the changing table drawer so that if he is beginning to get a rash, I can lightly air out the infected area as air can help heal it faster. When it is dry, I then add the Balmex diaper cream onto the dry area. Balmex does not lock in any moisture when applied, so the if you aren’t able to use the hair dryer, Balmex creates a barrier to keep any wetness away from the skin!

I hope some of these products and hacks can be of help with the hundreds of diaper changes that come with having a new little one.
