Adelyn’s Summer Bash

Sharing Adelyn’s third birthday party details! It was such a fun party to plan and put together! She had a blast with all of her friends and especially loved that chocolate cake. After singing “Happy Birthday” to her, she went and got herself a bowl and spoon and started digging into the side of the cake. Girl knows what she wants. Birthday parties are so fun to throw the older they get  AND summer birthday parties are so easy as most of it was done outside so the clean up was easy!

Mama on the Go: Ice Cream Date

Going out for ice cream was definitely on our summer bucket list, however, I think we’ve checked that off our list at least 20 times already. It’s Adelyn’s absolute favorite thing to do and I’m happy to oblige. We have a local dessert parlour that serves cupcakes, cookies, and of course homemade ice cream. It was a stormy afternoon when we went, so it was the perfect outing to get out of the house and the rain!

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that every month I do a “Mama on the Go” post sharing ideas of places to go and things to do with your children outside of the house. I hope that these posts can be an encouragement to other mothers maybe stuck on where to go and do things to do with their children. **Please note that most of the time when we make it out of the house, it is usually is in my workout clothing. However, when I do find the time, and put myself together a little more, I love to wear something I feel good in like this Love Winnie James dress.

Along with sharing ideas of places and things to go do, I share a bag and a clothing company with you that are perfect for “mamas on the go”. This month I am sharing the beautiful bag company Mina Baie and one of my new favorite clothing companies, Love Winne James. In addition to sharing what I love about each of these companies, I am also sharing my new makeup routine which takes approximately 2 minutes. (Mamas you NEED this) I even timed it this morning, no joke. It is by far some of the best makeup I’ve used for easy application and a flawless look.

When people ask about my Mina Baie bag, they are always shocked when I tell them that it actually is a diaper bag too. This beautiful genuine saffiano leather bag, is the most stylish bag I have ever owned. An absolute classic with it’s sleek design, gold hardware on black, and it gives a sophisticated, modern feel.  I always feel like a million bucks when I carry it, but love that it carries all the functionality of a diaper bag without looking like one. I really could go on and on about everything I love about these bags–incredibly well made, adjustable strap, scratch resistant, everything is wipeable (inside and out), perfect amount of pockets (8 on the inside, 5 on the outside). I take it traveling as it can carry everything the girls need including a back pocket made just for an iPad. As stated on their website, “the perfect arm candy for moms long after the diaper days are over”.

I am absolutely in love with this White Grace dress by Love Winnie James. It is incredibly comfortable and I love the classic style of the black and white. AND is only $42! I don’t think I have ever received more compliments on a dress than when I wear this one. I also love that I wore this dress all spring, now in the summer, and plan on wearing it come fall–it is such a seasonal dress. I am urging you to take a look at Love Winnie James because I know you will fall in love with every piece they have.

Last, I want to share the new makeup brand I have been using for the last few weeks called, Maskcara. The IIID Foundation is a palette that can be customized to your skin tone and includes your contour, highlighter, blush, and illuminator. When I received my package, I was like “okay, so where is the foundation?”. Then I watched this video on how to apply the IIID Foundation and tried it myself. I was shocked on how easy it was to apply and how quickly I was able to contour, highlight and put my blush on. This before and after photo was taken just minutes from each other and it totally looks like the lighting was different in the second photo but I didn’t change or mess with either photo–both are raw and unfiltered. These before and after photos even surprised myself on the difference and how much the IIID foundation gives a natural glow.

As a busy mother, putting makeup on doesn’t even happen most days and if I do put makeup on it just minimal because I don’t have the time to spend on applying my makeup. Maskcara’s IIID Foundation gives me a full finished look in less than two minutes by enhancing my skin tone, camouflaging my blemishes and dark circles (I’m a mom), and creates the most perfect lighting on my face. The Lemonade Stand + Recipe

Last summer, I saw this old wooden lemonade stand at our local park and I just started dreaming up all of these ideas of how to style it for photos. Fast forward to this spring when Wren and James released these adorable pinafore dresses and I knew right then, I had to make all of my lemonade stand dreams come true. My girls had such a fun time filling their glasses full of lemonade and stuffing their faces with all of the strawberries. I loved how the photos turned out so I wanted to share them with you today and my homemade lemonade recipe to kick off your Fourth of July weekend!

Easy Homemade Lemonade

  1. Squeeze the juice from about 8 lemons to make 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice ( I use this juicer)
  2. Add 1 1/3 cups of sugar & 1 cup of water to a pot and heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and liquid is clear again. Let cool.
  3. Add lemon juice to 8 cups of water and cooled syrup. Chill and serve!

Mini Style: 4th of July

Essential Oils for Traveling

Essential oils as something we use daily in our house whether I am diffusing it or putting a blend on the girls, we absolutely love essential oils. I could go on and on about all the ways we use them, but with it being summer and travel season, I thought I would share all the blends I take to use on the girls. I use doTerra for essential oils, this carrier oil, and these roller balls or spray bottles to make my blends in. I also have this nifty little label maker that labels each blend–it works great and was so cheap! I recently got this cute palm leaf essential oil bag for our trip to the Caribbean and I loved being able to carry all the oils in my suitcase without the fear of them breaking. Teething Blend: 5 drops lavender, 5 drops roman chamomile, and fill the rest with a carrier oil

I rub on the jawline and behind the ears of my girls when they are cutting teeth.

Ouchie blend: 3 drops each of purify & lavender, fill the rest with a carrier oil

Diaper rash spray: 10 drops each of lavender, melaleuca, and frankincense fill the rest with a carrier oil.

I use this after each and every diaper change to help prevent diaper rashes.

Sleepy blend: 5 drops Cedarwood, 10 drops serenity, 2 drops roman camomile, fill the rest with carrier oil.

I rub on my girls feet nightly.

Bug Bite Relief: 10 drops each of lavender, lemon, and peppermint, fill the rest with carrier oil

Apply to the bug bite

Tummy Blend: 3 drops each of frankincense & lemon, 1 drop peppermint, fill the rest with carrier oil

Rub gently on the tummy area.

Last, I have a roller bottle for each of my girls that use on their feet and spine each morning. I use this as an immune supporter and I believe that it keeps them more balanced throughout the day. I have one for each, as Emery is a baby and Adelyn is a toddler.

Toddler blend: 10 drops each of On Gaurd and Frankincense, fill the rest with carrier oil.

Baby blend: 5 drops each of On Guard and Frankincense, fill the rest with carrier oil.

This may be a “Top Ten Tuesday” being posted on a Thursday morning, but late is better than never right?!? We have been loving those pool floats, even though we don’t even own a pool…they are so fun to just blow up and let the kids bounce and play around with them too! Top Ten Tuesday: Gift Guide for Dad

Father’s Day is this Sunday and if you are still scrambling to find the perfect gift, I have rounded up a few perfect gifts for Dad. I want to highlight these Jord Wood watches because my husband has owned the Koa and Black and raves about it, so for Father’s Day the girls and I bought him the Ebony and Copper watch.

Celebrating Dad

Father’s Day is right around the corner so I thought I would share some fun ideas of things to go do with Dad. I absolutely love Father’s Day because I have always loved celebrating my own Dad, but now having kids, I get to celebrate two amazing Dads. The month of June, becomes a “Dads Month” as I like to call it as we usually end up camping, fishing, or going to a baseball game almost every weekend. Tis’ the season!

It is easy to get stuck on what fun things to do for Father’s Day, especially that doesn’t cost a fortune and is “kid friendly”. Our plans to celebrate are to go up to the mountains to go camping and fishing. It is one of Garth’s absolute favorite things to go do, and now that Adelyn is so excited about catching a fish too, it just makes the whole experience so much more fun. To see the girls fishing with their Daddy, brings back some of the best memories of going fishing with my own Dad.

It is important for my husband to have great fishing shoes for the summer that are easy to put on, comfortable, can get wet, and are a somewhat “stylish” shoe that can go with his everyday casual wear. He loves these Fisherman Sandals by Crocs while he works in yard, goes to the park, and especially for his fishing trips. Real leather, an open design so they don’t get too hot, and comfortable–he doesn’t let me forget how comfortable they are as he mentions it about every 5 minutes while wearing them…

Our plans are to go camping and fishing at the lake for Father’s Day weekend and the following weekends we are going to take my Dad to a baseball game and his Dad to the farm.
